PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
In January 2025, John G. Udell rejoined Weichert Development Company where he will apply his broad real estate experience for future acquisition, development and redevelopment, portfolio enhancement and disposition. Mr. Udell will oversee all stages of the development process to create successful developments. He will continue to RE-imagine real estate and the Company’s vision, values, and strategic plan.
In March 2022, John G. Udell joined Continental Properties as a Principal, expanding the company’s footprint. Mr. Udell oversaw the construction, staff hiring, budgets, financing, employment and contractor/vendor agreements, approved scope of works, design, development, product selections and FFE for the building and amenities, affordable housing compliance for a 169-unit luxury apartment complex in Livingston, NJ. Further Mr. Udell has applied his broad real estate experience for future acquisition, governmental approvals, development and redevelopment, portfolio enhancement and disposition.
In January 2017, John G. Udell was appointed President of Weichert Development Company’s full-service developer and investor, capabilities range from property site selection, acquisition and construction to financing, leasing, property management and maintenance and focused on adaptive reuse, ground-up development, redevelopment and asset repurposing. Notable projects achieved rezoning/approvals for residential apartments, retail, self-storage facility, grocery, gas and convenience and repositioned office space.
In October 2001 John G. Udell was appointed President of Weichert Commercial Brokerage, Inc. and continues to oversee Weichert New Homes. The combined companies’ average annual sales volume is in excess of $1 billion.
In 1995 Mr. Udell merged Metland Properties Group Inc. with Weichert New Homes and Land Co., Inc. He expanded this company to provide New Homes and Land Sales and Management into eight states.
From 1992 to 1995 Mr. Udell was President of Metland Properties Group Inc., an affiliated company of Weichert Realtors. He oversaw this company, which provided consulting and construction services and brokered distressed assets. He handled portfolios containing 1-30 assets. A sample of clients are the RTC, FDIC, First Fidelity, NatWest, Midlantic National Bank and Carteret Savings.
From 1990 to 1992 he consulted and/or completed projects for 10 leading Institutions. His in-depth knowledge of the diverse and complex obstacles in real estate development, syndication, financing and disposition procedures had been acquired throughout his extensive real estate career.
In 1985, Mr. Udell became associated with one of the nation’s leading land developers and home builders of New Jersey, California and Virginia. He later became a principal of the company. From 1987 until his departure in 1990, the company’s annual sales revenues exceeded $100 million and was among the nation’s top 100 builders. He has been involved nationally in real estate development and analysis acquiring, developing and disposing of real property valued in excess of $500,000,000. He has acquired and supervised development companies in New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC metropolitan markets.
From 1980 to 1985, Mr. Udell was a member of the Million Dollar Sales Club, and in 1985 became a President’s Club member. During this period, he also managed a land development and new homes division for one of the New York metropolitan area’s largest real estate companies.
AFFILIATIONS
Mr. Udell has been active in professional organizations within the real estate industry. He has been in real estate his entire career which began in 1978. He became a broker in 1981. He is a Life Director of the Community Builders Association and Past Member of The Committee on the Highlands/Skylands. He is or was a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), National Association of Home Builders (NAHB); New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA); Community Builders Association of New Jersey (CBA); North Central Jersey Association of Realtors; National Association of Realtors (NAR); a New Jersey Registered Builder and Vice Chairman of the Chester Township Zoning Board of Adjustment. In 1998 he was inducted into the Johnson State College Athletic Hall of Fame and in 2006 he received the Outstanding Alumni Award. Udell is the recipient of the 2004 Founders Award from the Community Builders Association. In 2024 he was inducted into the County College of Morris Athletic Hall of Fame.
EDUCATION
He received a bachelor’s degree from Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont. Upon graduation, he became a sales agent specializing in land sales and development.

Mr. Udell was raised in a family active in real estate, land development, brokerage and building. Mr. Udell resides in New Jersey.
